ESCMID clinicians and scientists play an important role in conveying the consequences of AMR to both the general population as well as to policymakers. Death and morbidity attributable to AMR as well as the increased costs due to drug resistant infections are major issues. AMR is on the agenda for the upcoming high-level meeting at the UN General Assembly in September 2024. We from the ESCMID board have prepared a petition for you to send to your respective ministers and other influential politicians asking them to mobilize political attention at the highest level possible to ensure the participation of the most senior representatives of your government at the UN High-Level Meeting on AMR on September 26 2024 in New York, USA, and for the government to work for a strong resolution with ambitious commitments and concrete actions on AMR. We hope that you as a scientist and/or clinician will use this opportunity to influence, at a critical moment, the fight against AMR. Together we can send a very strong signal!
