The ESCMID Study Group for Epidemiological Markers (ESGEM) wishes to recognise excellence and innovation among the ESGEM community. These distinguished award winners will have the opportunity to deliver a lecture during a dedicated IMMEM session. All ESCMID members with an interest in epidemiological markers are eligible to join ESGEM.
Current or past ESGEM members who have experience as senior investigators or clinicians are invited for nomination. Please note that self-nominations are not allowed and that members of the ESGEM Executive Committee (EC) are not eligible during during their term in office.

The awardee is carefully selected by the ESGEM EC. Notification is sent to the awardee before IMMEM. At IMMEM, the ESGEM Chair will shine a light on the winner and present the prestigious award. The awardee will have the chance to give a 25 min lecture of their choice in a special dedicated IMMEM session.

Handpicked by the ESGEM EC, the awardee will be notified of their selection before IMMEM. The awardee will have the chance to give a 25 min lecture of their choice in a special dedicated IMMEM session.
Eligibility conditions are:
1) Onsite participation
2) The applicant must be a Young Scientist according to ESCMID standards.
3) The applicant must be the presenting author of an accepted abstract.
4) The applicant must be an ESGEM member and the research must align with the topic “Epidemiological markers and typing”.
Applications will be ranked according to the score of the accepted abstract, a motivation letter (explaining how the work aligns with ESGEM mission and how the grant supports attendance) and applicant’s provenience (priority will be given to applicants from LMICs).
Please apply through the ‘Apply’ link till the 28th March 2025. Only one application per participant is accepted and each applicant can receive only one grant, whether from ESCMID, ESGEM or any other entity.
Abstracts will only be ranked after acceptance by the IMMEM XIV committee. Applicants will be notified via email, and results will be announced through ESCMID and ESGEM channels. Grant recipients must acknowledge ESGEM support in their poster or oral presentation.
