The ESCMID Study Group for Veterinary Microbiology (ESGVM) aims to prevent the emergence and spread of animal infectious diseases, hazards of veterinary public health importance and AMR using a One Health approach and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Together, ESGVM is committed to:

  • Promoting evidence-based antimicrobial therapy, antimicrobial stewardship and best infection control practices
  • Facilitating the advancement and harmonization of diagnostics in the veterinary setting
  • Unite experts working in research, public health and animal health settings in a forum for knowledge exchange and communication
  • Promoting OneHealth by facilitating joint research and training collaborations between medical and veterinary microbiologists within areas of common interests, such as zoonoses and antimicrobial resistance
