EUCIC Basic Module in Infection Prevention and Control

This basic module organized by EUCIC represents the first step to achieve the above-mentioned objectives. Infection Prevention and Control is a hands-on course including bedside teaching with simulated patients played by professional actors. You will have the opportunity to be taught face-to-face by top experts from different academic centers in Europe, who will cover all major aspects of IPC in the hospital. We use modern techniques to make invisible transmission of microbes visible to everybody’s eyes. 

Intended audience: 

Medical doctors and pharmacists, nurses or other healthcare professionals with an MSc or PhD are eligible. 

Objectives: 

  • Understand the impact of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) on morbidity and mortality in acute care settings. 
  • Recognize the need for standardized and science-based training programs in infection prevention and control (IPC). 
  • Learn from top experts in IPC from academic centers across Europe. 
  • Engage in hands-on training sessions with simulated patients to enhance practical skills in IPC. 
  • Explore modern techniques for visualizing microbial transmission. 
  • Enhance competencies in IPC practices including hand hygiene, environmental cleaning, and isolation precautions. 
  • Promote collaboration and networking among IPC professionals for knowledge sharing and best practice dissemination.
