Infections of the central nervous system are associate with substantial mortality and morbidity. Knowledge of pathogenesis will allow identification of therapeutic targets for future clinical management. This knowledge needs to be generated in model systems of brain infections. The course, organized by the ESCMID Study Group for Infections of the Brain (ESGIB) together with the Société de Pathologie Infectieuse de Langue Française (SPILF), has the objective to provide knowledge on model systems of brain infections to both young and established researchers with interactive sessions, methodological based workshops and structured discussions among the participants.
