This course will provide direct, hands-on training for translating research into airtight manuscripts allowing publication in high-impact journals and strong dissemination. We will cover the process from planning your manuscript and choosing the right journal, to reporting honestly and transparently methods and results, and to disseminate your findings to a wider public. Attendants will receive insights from journal editors and high profile authors and provide each other feedback in hands-on practical writing sessions.

Intended audience:

Physicians, Pharmacists, Nurses, other Healthcare Professionals and Clinical Scientists of any specialty with an interest in publishing clinical research.

Objectives:

  • Choose the right journal for their publications, based on audience and scope
  • Use reporting guidelines to facilitate writing transparent research articles
  • Write a commentary, laboratory article, clinical article and systematic review
  • Avoid common mistakes and questionable research practices
  • Draw visuals and infographics that help your research to stand out
  • Compose a good cover letter and to respond to reviewers and editors
  • Decide when to appeal and to write a convincing appeal letter
  • Ensure a good dissemination of results and findings
  • Perform a good peer review
