State of the Art in the Era of Microbiome Study: Current Approach and Future Perspectives

Event Description

05 - 06 May 2025
Turin, Italy
Onsite

The microbiome has several key functions and affects health and disease susceptibility by modulating metabolism, immune responses, neurological function, and resistance to pathogenic microbes. Increasing clinical evidence correlates diseases with the microbiota, and understanding mechanisms of this complex interaction may help to identify new potential pathways to new therapeutic strategies in the management of infections, cancer and other diseases. The study of microbiome involves novel technical approaches as bioinformatics, computational metagenomics, metabolomics that could be difficult to interpretate for clinicians. This course aims to focus the current knowledge on microbiome studies and to have a glimpse into the interpretation of microbiome analysis and future possible strategies of intervention targeting microbiome.

Intended audience:

Infectious Diseases, Internal Medicine, Clinical Microbiologist, Bioinformatics, Molecular Biologists. Specialists, Residents and Fellows are welcome, PhD students with focus on microbiome are also welcome.

Objectives:

  • Understand current knowledge on microbiome studies.
  • Translate microbiome data into clinical practice.
  • Apply microbiome research in clinical setting such as infectious diseases, cancer, gastroenterology.
  • Evaluate the role of new techniques targeting the microbiome and their future development.
