This 2-day interactive course provides a comprehensive view of the basic concepts of surveillance and introduces participants to a European perspective in infection prevention and control. It is carefully structured to support knowledge and competence building, through experiential learning, practical sessions and interactive lectures.

Intended audience:

Medical doctors and pharmacists, nurses or other healthcare professionals with an MSc or PhD are eligible, provided they completed the basic module or have experience in IPC.

Objectives:

  • Key surveillance principles and structures, including data interpretation, management resources and surveillance networks 
  • Cultural, structural and social determinants in infection prevention and control 
  • Knowledge, perspectives and attitudes of patients and healthcare professionals 
  • Interplay between diagnostics and therapeutics 
  • National, regional and international epidemiology of communicable diseases, antimicrobial resistance, antimicrobial consumption

Certification:

Course organisers will monitor attendance. Only participants attending live sessions will be able to receive the certification.
