Urinary tract infections (UTI) are the most common bacterial infections in humans and standardized approach to the diagnosis and treatment of these infections has high priority in patient management. The course will discuss the basic guidelines on the management of UTI and deal with challenges in diagnostics and therapy of UTI in different patient populations through lectures and interactive case presentations. In a view of increasing antimicrobial resistance, the course will also give insights in the importance of the detection of resistance mechanisms, and the impact of antimicrobial stewardship and infection control and prevention programs in the field of UTI.
